Convert money at a rate you enter and see what actually arrives once the fee is taken.

Formula
How the calculation works
The tool takes the rate as an input rather than fetching one, and that is deliberate. A market rate changes by the minute, so a rate baked into the page at build time would be stale by the visit, and a stale rate shown as if it were live is worse than asking the user for it.
Fees come off after conversion, which is how most providers charge them. On 1,000 at 1.27 the converted figure is 1,270, and a 1% fee leaves 1,257.30. Entering your own provider's fee is what makes the answer the one you will actually get.
Common mistakes
- Using the headline rate and forgetting the provider's fee. The gap between the two is what the conversion actually costs.
- Comparing a card rate with a bank rate without their fees. The better rate can lose once the fee is counted.
When to use it
- Use it to work out what actually arrives after a transfer or a card payment, with your own provider's fee entered.
- It is also the tool for choosing between providers: put each fee in and the one that leaves the most wins.
Worked example
1,000 at a rate of 1.27 converts to 1,270, and a 1% fee leaves 1,257.30.
Common questions
Why do I enter the rate myself?
Because a market rate changes by the minute. Baking one in would go stale, and showing a stale rate as if it were live is worse than asking for it.
How do I account for the fee?
Each provider charges its own. Enter the fee for the card, bank or app you will actually use; here it comes off after conversion.
