Delivery Cost Calculator
What an order really costs once delivery and service charges are added.

Formula
How the calculation works
The price on the menu is not what the order costs. A delivery fee is fixed, but a service charge is a percentage of the food, so the two behave differently as the basket grows. The tool adds both and reports the true markup against the food.
Because the delivery fee is fixed, the markup falls as the order gets bigger: a 500 order with a 40 fee and 10% service carries 90 in fees, an 18% markup, while the same terms on a 1,000 order carry 140, a 14% markup. That is why a small order can cost far more than it looks per item.
Common mistakes
- Comparing two apps on the food price alone. The fees decide the total, and an app with a lower service charge can win on a big order while losing on a small one.
- Forgetting that the service charge is charged on the food, not on food plus delivery. It never applies to the delivery fee itself.
When to use it
- Use it to see the real cost of an order before placing it, and to compare two delivery apps on the same basket.
- It does not include a tip or any promo discount; add those on top to get the amount you will actually pay.
Worked example
Food of 500 with a 40 fee and 10% service: fees 90, total 590, an 18% markup.
Common questions
Why is the markup lower on a bigger order?
The delivery fee is fixed and does not grow, while the service charge does. So on a bigger order the fixed fee weighs less.
Is the tip included?
No, this is fees and service only. Work out the tip separately.
