Formula

convert to the UTC instant, then to the target zone's wall time

How the calculation works

The time is first turned into a single instant in UTC, and only then written out in the target zone. Doing it in that order is what makes the daylight-saving steps come out right: a rule that is true in June is not true in January, and the zone database behind the browser knows which applies to the date you entered.

The result shows the converted date, the converted time, the offset in hours and how many days the date moved. The last one matters most in practice: a 09:30 call from Dhaka lands at 22:30 the previous day in New York, so the day is shown separately rather than left to be worked out.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

15 June 2026, 09:30 in Dhaka: 04:30 in London the same day.

Converted date 15 June 2026
Days shifted 0
Offset (hours) 1.00

Common questions

Is daylight saving handled?

Yes. The zone rules come from the browser's own database, so the rule for the date you enter is the real one -- London is an hour ahead in summer and not in winter. Hand-written rules would be wrong twice a year.

Can the date change?

Yes, often. 09:30 in Dhaka becomes 22:30 the previous day in New York, so both the date and how many days it shifted are shown, so the day is not missed.
