Formula
How the calculation works
The tool first works out the cash-on-delivery charge by taking the COD percentage of the sale price.
Then it adds product cost, delivery cost, that COD charge and packaging cost into one total expense figure.
Finally it subtracts the total expense from the sale price to return the real profit on the order.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the COD charge, which couriers in Bangladesh deduct as a percentage of the collected amount.
- Counting only the product cost and ignoring delivery and packaging, which quietly eat a large share of small orders.
When to use it
- Check whether a single online order actually earns money after every fee has been removed.
- Compare two selling prices and see which one still leaves a healthy profit per order.
Worked example
Sale price 1000, product cost 600, delivery 60, COD charge 2% (20) and packaging 30 give a total cost of 710, so the real profit is 290 taka.
Common questions
Which COD charge rate should I use?
Most Bangladeshi couriers charge about 1% to 2% of the collected amount, so 2% is a safe planning default.
