Bonus Tax Calculator
Find how much tax is deducted from an annual or festival bonus and what amount actually reaches your hand.

Formula
How the calculation works
The calculator first subtracts any exempt limit from the bonus amount to find the part that is actually taxable.
It then applies the individual income tax slabs, taxing each slice of the taxable amount at its own rate from zero up to the highest slab reached.
The total of those slices is the tax, and subtracting it from the bonus gives the net amount received.
Common mistakes
- Applying the highest slab rate to the whole bonus instead of only to the slice above that slab threshold.
- Forgetting to add the exempt limit allowed by the budget, which makes the calculated tax higher than it should be.
When to use it
- Employees use it to check the tax deduction shown on a bonus payslip before signing the acknowledgement.
- Families plan large festival spending by knowing the exact take home bonus rather than the gross figure announced.
Worked example
With a bonus of 500000 taka and no exempt limit, the first 350000 taka is free of tax, the next 100000 taka is taxed at 5 percent and the next 50000 taka at 10 percent, so the tax is 10000 taka and the net bonus is 490000 taka.
Common questions
Is a festival bonus taxable?
Yes, a bonus is treated as part of your income for the year, so it is taxed under the same individual slabs as your regular salary.
