Formula
How the calculation works
The calculator treats your last basic salary as the anchor and derives the leave cash, gratuity and notice pay from it using the rules of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006.
Unused leave is paid as one thirtieth of the monthly basic for each day left, while gratuity is one month's basic multiplied by the number of completed years of service.
Gratuity only vests after two years of continuous service, so the tool returns a zero gratuity for shorter tenures and then adds every component into a single total.
Common mistakes
- Employees often forget that gratuity requires at least two completed years of service, so a resignation in the first year produces no gratuity at all.
- Leave encashment is calculated on the basic salary, not the gross salary, so including allowances in the daily rate will overstate the amount.
When to use it
- Use it at resignation to check the final cheque against the Bangladesh Labour Act entitlement before you sign the clearance form.
- Use it during HR exit processing to present a transparent breakdown of each settlement component to the departing employee.
Worked example
With a last basic salary of 30,000 taka, 5 years of service, 10 unused leave days and 1 month notice, the total settlement is 220,000 taka.
Common questions
Is gratuity payable if I resign before two years?
No. Under the Bangladesh Labour Act gratuity becomes payable only after at least two years of continuous service, so the tool shows zero for shorter service.
