Formula

total = baseFee + ccTax + vat + otherCharges; ccTax rises with engine size

How the calculation works

Enter the engine capacity band, the base registration fee, the capacity tax, VAT and any other charges that apply.

The BRTA capacity tax climbs steeply with engine size, so a 2000 cc car pays far more to register than a 1300 cc one.

The tool adds the base fee, capacity tax, VAT and other charges to give one total registration cost.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 1500 cc car with a Tk 15,000 base fee, Tk 40,000 cc tax, Tk 8,250 VAT and Tk 5,000 other charges comes to Tk 68,250 in total.

Base fee ৳15,000.00
Engine tax ৳40,000.00
VAT ৳8,250.00
Other charges ৳5,000.00
Total ৳68,250.00

Common questions

Why does the cc tax matter so much in Bangladesh?

The BRTA capacity tax is banded by engine size and rises sharply at each step, so a larger engine can add tens of thousands of taka to the registration bill.
