ETIN Cost Calculator
Work out what an e-TIN certificate costs from the number of copies, the government fee, an agent service charge and the VAT on that service charge.

Formula
How the calculation works
ETIN applications are priced per copy, so the number of copies drives the government fee directly.
A service charge is added for handling, and VAT is charged on that service charge rather than on the government fee.
The total is then divided by the copies to show the true cost of each certificate.
Common mistakes
- Assuming VAT applies to the government fee, when it is normally charged on the agent service charge only.
When to use it
- Use it before paying an agent so you can see whether the quoted service charge and VAT are reasonable.
Worked example
Two copies at 100 each with a 750 service charge and 15 percent VAT cost 200 in government fees, 112.50 in VAT, 1,062.50 in total and 531.25 per copy.
Common questions
Is VAT charged on the whole cost?
VAT applies to the agent service charge in this model, while the government fee is usually a fixed amount with no VAT added.
