Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

ureaKg = recommendedN * acres / 0.46; bags = ureaKg / bagKg

How the calculation works

Urea is about 46 percent nitrogen by weight, so the recommended nitrogen is divided by 0.46 to find the actual urea the crop needs.

The recommended nitrogen per acre is first multiplied by the number of acres, giving the total nitrogen for the whole plot.

Dividing the urea weight by the bag size gives the number of bags, so 130.4 kg of urea works out to about 2.61 bags of 50 kg.

When to use it

Worked example

A recommendation of 60 kg nitrogen per acre on 1 acre needs about 130.4 kg of urea, which is roughly 2.61 bags of 50 kg.

Urea (kg) 130.40
Bags 3

Common questions

Why is urea divided by 0.46?

Urea contains about 46 percent nitrogen, so dividing the required nitrogen by 0.46 gives the equivalent weight of urea the soil actually needs.
