Gas Connection Cost Calculator (Bangladesh)
Adds the connection fee, meter cost and pipe cost for a new gas line and applies VAT to show the full amount payable to the authority.

Formula
How the calculation works
The calculator adds the fixed connection fee, the price of the meter and the cost of the internal pipe line into one subtotal.
It then applies the VAT percentage to that subtotal, since an official gas connection attracts this tax on the works.
Adding the VAT to the subtotal gives the full amount you must arrange before the connection is completed.
Common mistakes
- Budgeting only the connection fee and forgetting the meter and pipe costs, which together often exceed the fee itself.
- Assuming VAT is already included in a contractor quote, when the authority charges it separately on the total works.
When to use it
- Use it before applying for a new gas connection to budget the complete cost rather than just the headline fee.
- Use it to compare the quote from a contractor against the official charges plus VAT you expect to pay.
Worked example
Connection fee 20000, meter 8000, pipe 12000, 15% VAT: subtotal 40000, VAT 6000 and total 46000 taka.
Common questions
Is VAT charged on the connection fee?
VAT applies to the combined connection, meter and pipe amount, so the default 15% is applied to the subtotal rather than to the fee alone.
