Formula
How the calculation works
Bangladesh taxes individuals on a progressive schedule, so the first slice of taxable income is charged at a low rate and later slices at higher rates.
TDS already deducted at source counts as tax paid, which is why the final payable figure can be much smaller than the total tax computed on the slabs.
Common mistakes
- Applying a single rate to the whole taxable income instead of taxing each slab separately, which badly overstates the tax bill.
When to use it
- Use it before filing to check whether the TDS already deducted covers your slab tax or whether you still owe a balance.
Worked example
With an annual income of 1050000, an exempt threshold of 350000 and 40000 of TDS paid, the taxable income is 700000, the tax is 75000 and the balance payable is 35000.
Common questions
Are the slab rates in this calculator current?
The slabs follow the standard individual structure of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 percent, but verify against the latest finance act before filing.
