New Zealand PAYE Calculator
Estimates New Zealand take home pay by deducting PAYE, the ACC earner levy and KiwiSaver from a gross salary.

Formula
How the calculation works
New Zealand has no social security payroll tax, so PAYE and the ACC levy together make up almost the whole compulsory deduction on a salary.
ACC is an accident compensation levy charged on earnings up to an annual cap, which means high earners stop paying it part way through the year.
KiwiSaver is a voluntary retirement scheme, so its rate depends on what the member chose rather than on the tax rules, and it is deducted after PAYE.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting that the ACC levy is capped each year overstates the deduction on high salaries, since no levy is taken above the annual earnings limit.
When to use it
- Use it to see what a New Zealand salary actually pays into your account once PAYE, ACC and your chosen KiwiSaver rate are removed.
Worked example
On a 62,000 dollar salary with 22 percent PAYE, 2 percent ACC and 3 percent KiwiSaver the net pay is 45,260 dollars.
Common questions
Can I stop my KiwiSaver deduction?
Yes. KiwiSaver is a voluntary scheme, so a member can take a contributions holiday, and setting the rate to zero in this calculator shows the take home without it.
