Newsletter Sponsor Rate Calculator
Works out what a newsletter can charge sponsors from its subscriber count and rate per thousand.
Recent
Formula
How the calculation works
The revenue per sponsor is the subscriber count in thousands times the rate per thousand.
Monthly revenue multiplies that by the number of sponsors booked.
The effective rate per thousand opens divides the rate by the open rate, showing what an advertiser pays per actual reader.
Common mistakes
- Quoting a rate per subscriber when sponsors pay per open, which sets the price wrong.
- Forgetting that a high open rate lets you charge more, because each reader costs the advertiser less.
When to use it
- Use it to set a fair sponsor price for a newsletter.
- It is not a market rate; real rates depend on niche, audience and engagement.
Worked example
5000 subscribers at 300 taka per thousand with 4 sponsors a month gives 1500 taka per sponsor and 6000 taka monthly revenue.
Common questions
What is rate per thousand?
It is the price charged for each 1000 subscribers, the usual way newsletters quote sponsors.
Should I price on opens or subscribers?
Sponsors often ask about opens, so a 40 percent open rate makes the effective cost per thousand opens higher than the list rate.
