Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

doseMl = acres * ratePerAcre; tankCount = ceil(doseMl / tankSizeMl)

How the calculation works

Enter the area you are spraying in acres and the labelled rate of concentrate per acre from the product instruction.

Enter the tank size in millilitres, which is the capacity of the sprayer you will carry rather than the whole drum.

The tool multiplies the area by the rate for the dose in millilitres and then divides by the tank size, rounding up to whole tanks.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

For 2 acres at 500 ml per acre with a 500 ml tank portion, the dose is 1000 ml, which fills 2 tanks.

Dose (ml) 1,000.00
Tank fills 2

Common questions

Should I use the dose per acre or per hectare?

This uses the rate per acre, so if your label is printed per hectare divide that figure by about 2.47 before entering it here.
