Formula
How the calculation works
The calculator finds your length of service in years from the join date and the end date you enter.
It divides your basic wage by thirty to get the daily wage, since Qatari gratuity uses a thirty day month.
It then multiplies the daily wage by twenty one days and by the years of service to reach the gratuity amount.
Common mistakes
- Calculating on the full salary instead of the basic wage, which inflates the gratuity above what the law awards.
- Using 30 days per year instead of 21, when Qatari law grants three weeks of basic wage for each year of service.
When to use it
- Use it before your contract ends so you know roughly what final settlement to expect beyond your last salary.
- Use it to check if your employer's gratuity offer matches the three weeks of basic wage per year set by Qatari labour law.
Worked example
With a basic wage of 3000 QAR, a join date of 2019-01-01 and an end date of 2024-01-01, service is about 5 years, the daily wage is 100 QAR, and the gratuity is 10500 QAR.
Common questions
How is Qatar end of service gratuity calculated?
It is three weeks of your basic wage for every year of service, so a basic wage of 3000 QAR over 5 years gives 10500 QAR.
