Savings Certificate Tax Calculator
Calculate the profit from a Bangladesh savings certificate and the net gain after source tax is deducted.

Formula
How the calculation works
Enter the investment amount, choose the savings certificate scheme and set how many years you will hold it.
The tool applies the scheme's published rate, computes gross profit over the years, and then charges 5 percent source tax for investments up to Tk 5,00,000 and 10 percent above that.
It subtracts the tax to show the net profit, the amount that truly reaches you after the government withholds its share.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring the 5,00,000 Tk threshold, because a larger investment is taxed at 10 percent instead of 5 and the net profit drops.
- Comparing a certificate's headline rate with a bank FDR without removing tax from both, which makes the certificate look better than it is.
When to use it
- Use it to compare the real return of different savings certificate schemes after tax.
- Use it to plan how much monthly profit a certificate will actually give you.
Worked example
Investing Tk 5,00,000 in a Family Savings Certificate at 10.54 percent for 5 years gives Tk 2,63,500 in profit. As the investment is up to Tk 5,00,000, tax is 5 percent, that is Tk 13,175, so the net gain is Tk 2,50,325.
Common questions
Is the source tax on savings certificates the final tax?
Yes, for savings certificates the tax deducted at source is treated as the final tax, so you do not pay further tax on that profit.
