Supplier Payment Split Calculator
Divides a total payment between suppliers in proportion to what each is owed, giving the larger and smaller share plus the rounding remainder.

Formula
How the calculation works
The calculator first adds the two supplier dues together to get the total that the payment must be shared against.
It then multiplies the total payment by each supplier's share of that total to find the two proportional parts.
Any rounding remainder is kept separately so you can add it to the largest supplier and keep the books exact.
Common mistakes
- Splitting the payment equally instead of in proportion, which short-changes the supplier with the bigger outstanding bill.
- Ignoring the rounding remainder, so the split parts add up to slightly less than the amount you actually paid out.
When to use it
- Use it when cash is limited and you want to pay several suppliers fairly in proportion to their invoices.
- Use it to check the split a colleague proposes before releasing funds from the business account.
Worked example
Pay 10000 on dues of 6000 and 4000: the larger supplier gets 6000, the smaller 4000 and the remainder is 0.
Common questions
Where does the remainder go?
Small rounding leftovers are added to the largest supplier payment, which keeps the sum of the parts exactly equal to the total paid.
