Formula
How the calculation works
The cost per cup adds the beans, milk and packaging, and the price minus that cost is the profit on each cup.
Monthly profit is that per-cup profit times the cups sold in the month, minus the fixed monthly cost.
A shop can look busy and still lose money if the fixed cost is higher than the total cup margin.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting wastage and spillage, which quietly raise the real cost per cup.
- Ignoring that rent and salaries are owed even on a slow day.
When to use it
- Use it to see whether a coffee shop clears a profit at its real daily volume.
- It is not a full cash flow; it uses the costs you enter for one month.
Worked example
At 120 taka a cup with 48 taka of ingredients and packaging, 100 cups a day over 30 days gives 72 taka per cup and 166000 taka monthly profit after 50000 taka fixed cost.
Common questions
What counts as cost per cup?
Coffee beans, milk, sugar, cup and lid, and any garnish. Fixed costs like rent and salaries are entered separately.
