Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

eHbA1c = (avgGlucoseMgDl + 46.7) / 28.7; category banded below 5.7 and above 6.5

How the calculation works

The calculator adds 46.7 to your average blood glucose in mg/dL from a meter or continuous monitor.

It divides that sum by 28.7 to estimate the HbA1c percentage you would likely see on a lab report.

It then labels the result as normal below 5.7, prediabetes from 5.7 to 6.5 or diabetes above 6.5.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

An average glucose of 154 mg/dL gives eHbA1c = (154 + 46.7) / 28.7 = 7.0 percent, which falls in the diabetes band above 6.5.

Estimated HbA1c (%) 7.00
Category Diabetes
Average glucose (mg/dL) 154.00

Common questions

Is this estimated HbA1c the same as a lab test?

No, it is an estimate from your average glucose readings and can differ from a lab result, so treat it as a guide and not a diagnosis.
