Formula
How the calculation works
The offset difference is city A's offset minus city B's, which is how many hours ahead or behind they are.
Converting city A's time to city B wraps around the twenty-four-hour clock, so a call at 9 am can land at 10 pm.
Negative offsets are entered as negative numbers, so a city five hours behind is minus five.
Common mistakes
- Entering a negative offset as positive, which flips the result.
- Forgetting daylight saving, which shifts some cities by an hour for part of the year.
When to use it
- Use it to find a good time to call family or a business abroad.
- It is not a calendar; it does not account for daylight saving changes.
Worked example
Dhaka is UTC+6 and Riyadh is UTC+3, so 12:00 in Dhaka is 09:00 in Riyadh, a 3-hour gap.
Common questions
How do I enter the offsets?
Use the UTC offset in hours, for example 6 for Dhaka and -5 for New York.
Does it handle daylight saving?
No, it uses fixed offsets, so check DST manually during summer months.
