Formula
How the calculation works
The tool multiplies the number of workers by the daily wage to get the cost of one full working day for the whole crew.
It then multiplies that daily cost by the number of working days the crew is expected to be on site.
The result is the total labour cost, which covers wages only and not materials or contractor commission.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting overtime, which in Bangladesh is usually paid at double the normal hourly wage in busy seasons.
- Counting calendar days instead of working days, since rain, holidays and material delays regularly halt a site.
When to use it
- Estimate the wage bill for a plastering or brickwork phase before the crew starts.
- Work out how changing the crew size would speed up the job and alter the total wage cost.
Worked example
Ten workers at a daily wage of 800 taka for 15 days give a daily cost of 8000 and a total labour cost of 120000 taka.
Common questions
Is the construction daily wage fixed by law?
Bangladesh sets a minimum wage for construction workers, but skilled masons and helpers usually earn above the minimum in city projects.
