Formula
How the calculation works
The tool multiplies the number of doors by the cost of one door to get the total spent on doors.
It then multiplies the number of windows by the cost of one window to get the total spent on windows.
Finally it adds the door total and the window total to return the overall door and window cost.
Common mistakes
- Using one flat rate for both doors and windows, when windows usually cost less than solid wooden doors.
- Forgetting the fitting and grill charges, which are often billed separately from the door or window frame.
When to use it
- Estimate the joinery budget before ordering doors and windows for a new floor.
- Compare two suppliers by changing the per-door and per-window rates to see the total difference.
Worked example
Six doors at 12000 taka each cost 72000, and eight windows at 8000 taka each cost 64000, so the total door and window cost is 136000 taka.
Common questions
Does the cost include fitting and grills?
No, this figure covers only the doors and windows themselves, so add fitting and grill charges separately if your supplier bills them.
