Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

weightKg = area * kgPerSqft; steelCost = weightKg * ratePerKg; total = steelCost + paintCost + labourCost

How the calculation works

The calculator multiplies the grill area by the steel weight used per square foot to get the total steel needed.

It multiplies that weight by the rate per kilogram to find the steel cost, which is usually the largest part of the bill.

Paint and labour are then added so the total reflects the finished grill or gate rather than just the raw steel.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

For a 20 square foot gate at 1.5 kilograms per square foot, the steel weight is 30 kilograms, at 120 taka per kilogram the steel costs 3600 taka, and with 500 taka paint and 1500 taka labour the total is 5600 taka.

Weight (kg) 30.00
Steel cost 3,600.00
Total ৳5,600.00

Common questions

How much steel does a square foot of grill use?

It depends on the design, but a normal window grill uses roughly one to two kilograms of steel per square foot, with heavier security gates using more.
