Formula

kgPerMeter = diameterMm^2 / 162; weightPerBarKg = kgPerMeter x lengthM; totalWeightKg = weightPerBarKg x bars

How the calculation works

Enter the bar diameter in millimetres, the length of each bar in metres and the number of bars.

The tool squares the diameter and divides by 162, the standard formula that gives the weight in kilograms per metre for steel rebar.

It multiplies that unit weight by the bar length and again by the number of bars to show the total weight to order.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 12 mm bar gives 144 divided by 162, which is 0.889 kg per metre. A 12 metre bar then weighs 10.67 kg, and 10 such bars weigh 106.67 kg in total.

kg per metre 0.89
Weight per bar (kg) 10.7
Total weight (kg) ৳106.67

Common questions

Why is the rebar formula divided by 162?

It comes from converting the steel density of 7850 kg per cubic metre into a formula using the bar diameter in millimetres, giving kilograms per metre directly.
