Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

change = previousRestingHr - restingHr; band is set from restingHr, age and sex; a positive change means an improved lower resting rate

How the calculation works

The calculator reads the resting heart rate you measured during or just after sleep and compares it with age and sex bands.

It subtracts the current rate from the previous one so a positive change means your resting rate has fallen.

A resting rate of 58 beats a minute in a man of 30 sits in the very good band, and a drop from 62 is a 4 beat improvement.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

For a man of 30 with a resting rate of 58 beats a minute, down from 62, the band is very good and the improvement is 4 beats a minute.

Resting heart rate 58.00
BMI band excellent
Change -4.00%

Common questions
