How the calculation works

The calculator multiplies the length by the width of the concrete surface to get the shuttering area in square feet.

It multiplies that area by the rate per square foot charged for the formwork to get the shuttering cost.

The cost of props, bamboo and other supports is then added so the total covers the whole temporary structure.

Common mistakes

Using the floor area only, since beams and edges also need shuttering and add to the total formwork area.
Forgetting the props and support cost, which is a separate item from the plywood rate per square foot.

Worked example

For a slab 30 feet by 10 feet the shuttering area is 300 square feet, at 40 taka per square foot the shuttering costs 12000 taka, and with 3000 taka of props the total is 15000 taka.
