How the calculation works
Enter the area you are waterproofing in square feet, which is simply the length multiplied by the width of the roof or floor.
Enter the rate per square foot that covers both material and labour, as agreed or quoted by your applicator.
Enter a wastage percentage for overlaps and cutting, and the tool lifts the area by that margin before multiplying by the rate for the total cost.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the wastage allowance, because overlaps, edges and cutting usually waste five to ten percent of the membrane or coating.
- Treating the rate as material only, when most applicators quote one combined rate that already includes labour and surface preparation.
When to use it
- Use it to get a realistic budget for a roof, terrace or bathroom waterproofing job before a contractor gives you a figure.
- Use it to compare quotes, since some contractors quote a low rate but add material or wastage on top of it.
Worked example
For a roof of 1000 square feet at 120 Taka per square foot with 5 percent wastage, the area to cover becomes 1050 square feet and the total cost is 126000 Taka.

Does this cover surface repair before coating?
No, it covers waterproofing at the rate you enter, so add any crack filling, plaster repair or slope correction separately if the surface is damaged.
