How the calculation works
Aqiqah cost is driven first by the animal, because the tradition asks for two animals for a boy and one for a girl, which alone can double the base figure.
The second large block is hospitality, so the number of guests times the meal cost per guest is added to the animal cost to reach a realistic total.
Keeping the two parts separate shows whether the animal or the feast is the bigger expense, which helps when the budget is tight.
Common mistakes
- Budgeting for one animal when the aqiqah is for a boy understates the cost by nearly half, since the animal is usually the largest single item.

For a boy with an animal price of 22,000 BDT, 40 guests and a meal cost of 350 BDT per guest, two animals cost 44,000 BDT, the meal costs 14,000 BDT and the total is 58,000 BDT.
