Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

spouseShare = estate * spouseFraction; residuary = estate - spouseShare; perSonShare = residuary / (sons * 2 + daughters); perDaughterShare = perSonShare / 2

How the calculation works

Enter the total estate left after funeral costs and debts are paid, because inheritance is calculated only on what remains.

Choose whether the surviving spouse is a husband, a wife or none, since a husband takes a different fixed fraction from a wife.

Enter the number of surviving sons and daughters, and the tool gives the spouse share first and then divides the remainder so each son gets twice each daughter.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

On an estate of 1000000 Taka with a wife and 2 sons and 1 daughter, the wife gets 125000 Taka and the rest 875000 Taka is split so each son gets 350000 Taka and the daughter gets 175000 Taka.

Spouse share ৳125,000.00
Per son ৳350,000.00
Per daughter ৳175,000.00

Common questions

Does this cover all inheritance rules?

No, it covers only the spouse and children shares in a simplified way, so for a real estate, consult a qualified scholar or lawyer to include all heirs correctly.
