Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

meatPerShareKg = totalMeatKg / totalShares; yourShareKg = meatPerShareKg * sharesUsed; familyKg = yourShareKg / 3; relativesKg = yourShareKg / 3; poorKg = yourShareKg / 3

How the calculation works

A cow or buffalo is divided into seven equal shares while a goat or sheep forms a single share, so the tool sets the total shares from the animal type you pick.

The meat per share is the total usable meat divided by the number of shares, and your own share is that figure multiplied by how many shares you hold.

Tradition divides the meat into three parts for the family, relatives and the poor, so the tool splits your share into three equal portions unless you adjust the split yourself.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A cow with 140 kg of meat shared into 7 parts gives 20 kg per share, and one share splits into about 6.67 kg each for family, relatives and the poor.

Meat per share (kg) 20.00
Your share (kg) 20.00
Family share (kg) 6.67
Relatives share (kg) 6.67
Poor share (kg) 6.66

Common questions

How many shares does each animal allow?

A cow or buffalo allows up to seven shares, while a goat or sheep counts as a single share that cannot be divided among several people.
