Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

ml = weightKg * 33 + exerciseMin * 12 + heatAdjustment (normal 0, hot 300, very hot 600); cups = ml / 240

How the calculation works

The tool multiplies your body weight in kilograms by 33 millilitres, the base amount most adults need.

It adds 12 millilitres for every minute of exercise and a further amount when the day is hot or very hot.

It divides the total by 240, the size of a standard cup, to return the same need in cups.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 70 kg person exercising 30 minutes on a hot day needs 70 times 33 plus 360 plus 300, which is 2970 millilitres or about 12.4 cups.

Millilitres 3,070.00
Cups 12.80

Common questions

Does tea or coffee count towards the daily water need?

Partly, but it is safer to count them at half value and drink plain water as well, since tea and coffee increase urine output.
