Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

kWh = watts / 1000 * hoursPerDay * days; cost = kWh * unitRate

How the calculation works

The calculator converts the wattage into kilowatts by dividing it by one thousand.

It multiplies those kilowatts by the daily running hours and the number of days to get the kWh consumed.

It then multiplies the kWh by the rate per unit to show the total electricity cost.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 1500 watt air conditioner running 8 hours a day for 30 days uses 360 kWh, and at 8 taka per unit the cost is 2880 taka.

Energy (kWh) 360.00
Cost 2,880.00

Common questions

Should I use the wattage on the nameplate?

The nameplate shows the maximum wattage, so for a realistic estimate check a measured reading or use the average wattage given on the energy efficiency label.
