Formula

usageCharge = usage * ratePerUnit; vat = (usageCharge + fixedCharge) * vatPercent / 100; totalBill = usageCharge + fixedCharge + vat

How the calculation works

The tool multiplies the monthly usage in cubic metres by the WASA rate per cubic metre to get the usage charge.

It then adds the fixed charge, which WASA bills regardless of how much water is used, to that usage charge.

Finally it applies the VAT percentage to the two charges combined and returns the total water bill.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

Twenty cubic metres at 15.18 taka each give 303.60 in usage charges, and adding the 110 taka fixed charge and 5% VAT of 20.68 gives a total water bill of 434.28 taka.

Total bill 434.28
Usage charge 303.60
Fixed charge 110.00
VAT ৳20.68
