Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

dailyMl = weightKg * mlPerKg; dailyLitres = dailyMl / 1000; cups = dailyMl / cupSizeMl

How the calculation works

The calculator multiplies the child's weight in kilograms by the millilitres per kilogram suited to their age band.

It divides the result by one thousand to show the same amount in litres, which is easier to compare with bottles.

It divides by your cup size in millilitres so you can count cups instead of measuring every pour.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 15 kg child at 60 ml per kg needs dailyMl = 15 x 60 = 900 ml, which is 0.9 litres or 3.75 cups of 240 ml.

Daily milk (ml) 900.00
Daily (litres) 0.90
Cups 3.80

Common questions

Does this water target include water from food?

No, it covers drinks only, and a child also gets some water from fruit and vegetables, so the target is a drink guide rather than a strict rule.
