How the calculation works

Merit position in a Bangladeshi competitive exam is simply the number of candidates who scored higher than you, plus one for your own place.

The calculator takes that count of higher scorers, adds one, and also shows the total applicant pool so you can judge how strong the position is.

If 120 candidates scored above your 480 marks in a field of 1500, your merit position is 121 and you sit in roughly the top eight percent.

When to use it

Worked example

If 120 applicants scored higher than your 480 marks, your merit position is 121 out of 1500 applicants.

Merit position 121
Total applicants 1,500
Percentile 92.00

Common questions

How are tie scores handled in the merit list?

Candidates with the same score usually share a single merit position, so several people can hold the same rank and the next distinct score jumps ahead by more than one place.
