Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

kWh = watts / 1000 * hoursPerDay * days; monthlyCost = kWh * unitRate; dailyCost = monthlyCost / days

How the calculation works

The calculator divides the wattage by one thousand to convert it into kilowatts.

It multiplies those kilowatts by the daily running hours and the number of days to get the units of electricity used.

Multiplying the units by the rate per unit gives the monthly cost, and dividing by the days gives the daily cost.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

A 1000 watt appliance running 2 hours a day for 30 days uses 60 kWh, and at 8 taka per unit the monthly cost is 480 taka and the daily cost is 16 taka.

Energy (kWh) 60.00
Monthly cost ৳480.00
Daily cost ৳16.00

Common questions

Is one unit the same as one kWh?

Yes, one unit of electricity on a Bangladesh bill is one kilowatt hour, which is a thousand watts used for one hour.
