Figures are computed on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Formula

evPerKm = electricityPrice / evEfficiency; petrolPerKm = fuelPrice / mileage; savingPerKm = petrolPerKm - evPerKm; annualSaving = savingPerKm * annualKm

How the calculation works

Enter your electricity price per unit and the EV efficiency in kilometres per unit, which most models state on the specification sheet.

Enter the petrol price per litre and the car's mileage in kilometres per litre for the comparison vehicle.

The tool divides price by efficiency for each fuel to get the cost per kilometre, subtracts the EV figure from the petrol one, and multiplies by your yearly distance for the annual saving.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

With electricity at 8 Taka per kWh and 6 km per kWh, the EV costs about 1.33 Taka per km, while petrol at 110 Taka and 15 km per litre costs about 7.33 Taka per km, saving 6 Taka per km and 90000 Taka over 15000 km.

EV cost per km 1.33
Petrol cost per km 7.33
Saving per km 6.00
Annual saving ৳90,000.00

Common questions

Does the calculator include the cost of charging losses?

No, it assumes the full unit price converts to kilometres directly, so with charging losses the real EV cost per kilometre is slightly higher than shown.
