Formula

farePerPassenger = (baseFare + perKmFare * distanceKm) * classMultiplier; totalFare = farePerPassenger * passengers; classMultiplier = shovon 1, snigdha 1.5, ac 2

How the calculation works

The calculator multiplies the per kilometre rate by the distance and adds the base fare to get the basic fare for one passenger.

It applies the class multiplier, since Snigdha and AC classes cost more than the standard Shovon class.

The per passenger fare is then multiplied by the number of passengers to give the total for the group.

Common mistakes

When to use it

Worked example

For 200 kilometres with a base fare of 50 taka and 1.5 taka per kilometre, the second class fare is 350 taka per passenger, in Snigdha class it is 525 taka, and for 2 passengers the total is 1050 taka.

Fare per passenger 525.00
Total fare ৳1,050.00

Common questions

Why is AC class much more expensive?

AC class includes air conditioning and a higher service level, so its fare is roughly twice the standard Shovon fare for the same distance.
